What's the difference between Android TV, Android TV Box and Fire TV? In this video we talk about the differences of these so close but also different Android streaming devices that are so popular. They all share basically the same operating system, Android OS by Google but it comes in three different styles.

Users can be very confused by these three different devices and selecting the correct one is usually a hard task. Also there is a lot of confusion when we talk about Android TV and Android TV Boxes. And while Fire TV by Amazon seems so different, is it really?

Android TV (Nvidia Shield TV, Xiaomi Mi Box, etc) was designed by Google so you can only use it with a remote control. Android TV Boxes (Beelink, Mecool, UGOOS, etc) on the contrary share the same OS that a smartphone has. Fire TV (Firestick, Fire TV Cube, etc), was designed on top of Android by Amazon in order to offer a different eco-system from Amazon.

You don't break down the real differences. Android TV boxes, you have to side scroll with an annoying remote by pressing left right up and down, you have to pay for subscriptions to all the apps loaded on the interface WHEREAS with a pure Android box, you can use an air mouse with a keyboard on the back which is so much easier to navigate, and you can download apks from the net such as cyberflix and TeaTV and get all the shows and movies you could care to watch for absolutely free. For me there is no contest, pure Android box is the way to go.

thanks for the video Dimi. One question - I own XIaomi Box S which is great HOWEVER it came with Android 8 operating system and I see Android is in beta for Android 10. Is it possible to upgrade the operating system in XIaomi Mi Box S to Android 9 at least? If so, do you know how to do it? Have you or can you make a video on how to upgrade operating system step by step? As I understand it, Android 9 allow Amazon Prime to be installed natively rather than sideloaded as well as other improvements in the UI. On Ali Express all Xiaomi Mi Box S are Android 8 but when I look at the upgrade firmware section of my box I have never seen anything about upgrading to Android 9. Your thoughts would be welcome about this topic. Thanks.

You have the same O.S basically. I absolutely can't stand android TV it's why I returned my Nvidia shield and got my money back. android TV there's limited apps you can download and the most important one YouTube is a stripped down version that you can't multi task on. People who have Nvidia shield are blind sited by the games and games only they can play on it and can't see how limited the O.S is. I have had a lot of people get mad at me for just talking negative about the Nvidia shield. It's like a cult and don't you dare say anything negative about their God the Nvidia shield.
