A Comprehensive Comparison of YOLOv9 and YOLOv8

YOLOv9 model outperforms YOLOv8 in detecting smaller objects and those located farther from the camera, as demonstrated in the video showcasing traffic light detection.Conversely, YOLOv8 demonstrates superiority in detecting close-up objects and handling incorrect detections. Interestingly, despite having more parameters,YOLOv8 exhibits significantly faster performance out of the box with PyTorch models. However, further testing with frameworks like ONNX/TensorRT is warranted to fully assess performance.
