Peng Shan: On geometrical realization of centers

The center of an algebra is an important invariant. In Lie theory, the center of many representation categories admits interesting links to singular cohomology of algebraic varieties. In this talk, we will review some examples of this kind and explain a new link between the center of small quantum groups and the cohomology of certain affine Springer fibers.
