The Fastest E-Enduro Bike?? Canyon Strive:ON Review

Показать описание
Canyon is a brand that is committed to racing across just about all disciplines, so as the popularity of E-Enduro racing increased until it became a well established discipline, it was only a matter of time before Canyon created an EDR-E race team. This happened to be a team led by Fabien Barel; one of the sport’s brightest minds and most experienced racers, who set about producing an eBike with assisted Enduro racing as the sole focus: enter the Canyon Strive:ON. As Canyon’s first Bosch-powered eBike, the Strive:ON is a bike with speed on the mind, but how did it perform outside of the race tape? Robert has been putting the Strive:ON to the test for the last five months across a huge variety of terrain, and it’s safe to say it’s one of the best out there, but it’s not perfect.

Strive:ON was on top of my list when I was deciding what e-mtb to buy, but when I learned about the battery issue and saw forum filled with people trying to fix it and Canyon's lack of acknowledging the problem, I completely disregarded it. Kinda shame, because it looks really nice

Some of the same points as the RM Altitude Powerplay, how does that one sit in the race mix? Orbea looks good but no removable battery like the Canyon or RM.

Seems like a great deal.
What would be the main difference in riding characteristic to the Torque:on?

I cant work out why Canyon, gas gas, YT and a few others have an in-between size for those 175cm tall. Its the average height in the UK. Rather than the sales pitch of saying you have the choice between stability and agility, the reality is neither size will suit you or give you an optimal mountain bike experience.

I know it might not be strong enough (or packaged right) for ebike purposes, but the shapeshifter was one of the things I really enjoyed about the strive. Climbing efficiency aside, it's a really fun way to liven up trails/the bike when things get flatter and flow-y-er. Kinda a shame it's left out on the ebike, it's what the strive is known for (besides winning), and it's a bit like having two bikes on the trail at once.

I rode at a demo day and made a big mistake trying the XL, first big off in a long time. I am 6, 0 did have a go on a large later in the day but was not 100% and could not get dialed in. So wish I had tried the Medium after watching this 😮

Thanks for this. I'm 178 and looking at the numbers I was constantly feeling towards the S despite everyone's advice and Canyon also recommending a M.
Other manufacturers would also recommend smaller sizes than Canyon. Unsure on why Canyon has these recommendations, wonder if they just want to make everyone feel good with the extra stability?

Could you tell us your inseam length, please? I'm 6, 5 (197 cm) and tried the XL on the Canyon parking lot. Seating position felt good, but I had a lot of bike in front of me. I did not try the L because Canyon's specs say that the maximum seat height is 85 cm, which is a tad too low for my 97cm inseam length. The M maximum height is around 80cm according to Canyon, so I'm wondering how you could establish the right saddle height with 189cm and long legs.

How do you find the handling vs the 2023 Orbea Wild? Wild is my current favourite for next bike but not sure if a mullet set up like this would be more fun all round. Or is the wild still playful enough with full 29? (6ft rider so not so worried about full 29 so long as its not a barge)

Wondering why most reviews so far have described this bike as surprisingly lively, agile, playful, light-feeling, whatever you want to call it. Particularly compared against the Orbea Wild, which on other channels was described as more of a stable, speed, plow, etc. bike. Here the description seems to be the complete opposite, why could this be? I have read that the Strive:ON works much better with less SAG than recommended, but I wonder whether different suspension settings (should) lead to such different interpretations...

Will it take the 900watt battery from the torque on

6-2' riding a Medium? Thats not good. How do we know a bike will fit if sizing is wonky? Sounds like a headache.
