Lynx dies in Scottish Highlands

A lynx has died after it was illegally released in the Scottish highlands.

The wild cat was one of four animals recaptured in the same area over the last few days.

Prison time for whomever did it. Abandoning animals in these conditions with no conditioning or support is inhumane.

That's heartbreaking, they are such beautiful animals. How can people be so cruel, they are tame and used to being fed by people. This is the hardest time of year for them to even have a chance at being able to find food on their own too. It would take so much planning and preparation and agreement from people who live in these areas before an animal like this could be released into the wild. I agree with a possible reintroduction if all of the above where put in place and things where monitored constantly. They are stunning animals ❤❤❤

Could you be more clear why the lynx died?..? He was already in captivity! Some are saying it was because of darting them?...or some other drug introduction....need more details to stop the rumors....This version of his death would expose huge incompetence...and heads should roll....

UK needs to bring back apex predators like wolves and long gone brown brown bears too, but there will always be greedy farmers who think all land and nature is theirs.

Condolences for the loss of the Lynx who deserved to live it’s life free as all animals deserve but no of course not let’s just allow animals to be released in a humane place where it can’t defend itself and dies because fuckwits thought that this was the right thing to do now look what’s happened the poor innocent animal has died

Why is it ok to put them in cages?
Why are we all ok with Zoo's existing?
I realise this was a bizarre situation but the fact we take them and stick them in a zoo is disgusting. No large mammals should be in zoo's. Edinburgh Zoo is awful as they all are.
