If he's playing to a pre-recorded track, then it's phenomenal how he can come back in from his solo breaks and hit it right on the money. I've tried doing it with recordings from the John Riley books and never get it. On the other hand he might be using a click track, which is kind of tough to do with jazz drumming but it's also a soulless way to play. One question, what's with the smaller bass drum off to the side, does it have a long extension pedal, and why was it here anyway, I didn't hear anything sounding like double-bass work. Maybe I missed it.

Those tom mounts are so ostentatious and out of place on an otherwise clean-looking kit.

Cool stuff. But music needs to evolve. No one listens to big band anymore...no one. All these expensive music schools graduating great musicians w no job prospects... it sucks.
