The remake of a classic that became a classic, regardless of the vocals, the music and message echoes loudly still!!!!

When it comes to it, he'll go down as the best there was. A bridge between jazz and the newer popular musics. Legend.

"Q" is a genius who refused to be put into the restrictive labels the music industry tries to use for artists. His albums are amongst my most treasured music. The quality, diversity, and uniqueness of his music is

Still have the LP. Quincy was taking music forward, new direction, new arrangements - ideas from all directions. Wonderful collaboration with Toots. Wonderful solos by Hubert Laws, Freddie Hubbard, Milt Jackson - and then there was Toots - all backed by one of the greatest big band arrangements. I once saw a TV concert of both Ellington and Basie orchestras being directed by Quincy (he must have been in his mid- 20s) and I couldn't record it. Does anybody have details of that concert???

"Q" gives the Marvin Gaye classic a Jazzier edge, yet retains the soul of the original, it also features some great instrumental soloists by Hubert Laws (flute) Freddie Hubbard (flugelhorn) Milt Jackson (vibes) with Quincy Jones & Valerie Simpson on vocals, from the 1971 Smackwater Jack album

Surely !!! We can agree that Jones's voice is certainly more acceptable than the voices of today !! There is not much to listen in recent years .... the music of the past has more character, there are no comparisons ! ;)
