Imagine Magnus erasing all his memories of Alec but then seeing Alec again (in some Shadowhunter business capacity) and being like "And who are you?" in the exact same way he did the very first time he saw Alec in the club... Alec realising what had happened answering with hurt : "Alexander". And Magnus's memories starting to come back after hearing his name, a name that holds so much for him...
Anyway. Still glad he didn't erase his memories! ^^

This scene just shows how Magnus's love for Alec is different from the love he had for his past lovers. Magnus always kept objects that made him remember the people he had loved and lost. But here, Magnus couldn't fathom losing Alec and the only solution he could think of was erasing his memories of him.

Ok well, I'm happy and relieved that Asmodeus prevented Magnus from erasing his memories of Alec, but I hate his reason for it; he's taking full advantage of Magnus' sadness, suffering, and pain from his heartbreak and convincing him that he's the only person that he needs in his life. Asmodeus said that Alec was the one who made Magnus weak and vulnerable, but with Magnus at his weakest and vulnerablest he is the one using that for his own gain; and he claims that he wants to come back and become a "father, " now...Asmodeus really and truly is the Lord of Hell, he doesn't know anything about being a father, especially if he's willing to do and put Magnus through all that he's gone through.

I’m glad Magnus wasn’t allowed to get rid of his memories of Alec. That would’ve truly sucked! And even though I’m sad we didn’t get to see more of how Alec is handling the break up, it was nice to see that even with his magic Magnus isn’t happy because he doesn’t have Alec. They need to get back together. I’m over the ache in my heart.

Asmodeus is an evil manipulating mastermind but I love this moment so much! ♥️♥️♥️ Being proud of his son and wanting him around is probably the most a demon can do when it comes to love anyway so, you know, he loves Magnus in his way. And I adore the idea of dark Magnus. I live for it! 🤩Can’t wait for the father son badassery still to come! I know Malec will get back together in the end. 😌

this episode felt weird for me. They are forced to wrap things up asap and end the show so i get it, but i'll still point it out...
We saw no break down from Alec after he had to break Magnus heart. which can be excused by the fact that he kept himself busy with shadowhunters stuff. But another thing that i found really strange... he didn't check on Magnus to make sure Admodeus followed up on his end of the deal... and to check somehow if Magnus was ok (knowing he had this suicidal thoughts lately) i found that so out of character... i mean he has to convince Magnus that he doesn't love him anymore, not the audience!!

When i first saw this scene, i really thought that Asmodeus helped Magnus because he loved his son. But after i read the books and watched this scene again i realised that he did it for himself. He feeds on emotions, especially pain. And Magnus would not have felt anything without his memories.
I know that they made the script like this because they wouldn’t have had enough time to erase his memories and then give them back.
I think that the actor who played Asmodeus did an excellent job, especially with that grin at the end. I could see his enjoyment while Magnus was crying...
