I wish I knew this year's ago when I shot my first rabbit, it wasn't a kill shot and I ended up twisting it's neck and it wasn't immediate. Broke my heart and I quit all hunting and fishing for years also because I was a cruel kid that enjoyed hurting animals until that moment. Now I hunt and fish with only catching food as the intention and killing as humane as possible. I respect this video very much

Thank you. I kept hens as pets, they get injured or ill and in a rural setting a vet miles away will laugh at you if you call them at 02.00 hrs because a fox or badger has got in and injured them. I asked the vet what to do and he showed me how to dispatch an injured or sick hen. Since then I was confident I could swiftly dispatch a suffering creature. First time wasn’t easy but doing what’s best for the animal should be every caring persons goal. If you can’t do it, don’t keep small animals.

It's shockingly humane when you stop to think about it. Key words being stop to think about it. People don't realize how pain, adrenaline, and death works in animals. Even if you hit a deer double lung with a nice broadhead and it takes a few minutes for it to go down, they still haven't even felt any pain, the adrenaline blocks all that out. Take for instance soldiers in combat. Most people don't even realize it when they get shot, at least at first. You'd feel a poke or a push, but not really pain yet, till the adrenaline goes away.

Interesting. Reminds me of how I’ve seen people dispatch striped bass when fishing. It was a revelation to me.

I'm in the UK, when we go ferreting (flushing rabbits from the burrows using ferrets) the way we dispatch them is hold by the back legs the way you are, grip the base of the head and pull down breaks the neck instantly, either that or if the rabbit is still in the net (nets are set over each hole to catch the rabbits as they flush) we will "chin" of your hand under the rabbits chin and push there head back also instantly breaks the neck...good video on how to dispatch humanely tho👍

In French that's what we call the "rabbit's hit" (coup du lapin) and we use this term to designate also something that can happen to humans for example when they hit something at a great speed or fall and break their neck.

I am so glad you have found the best way...for you.. Me and my Mama tried to do it like it did NOT go like this so now we use a broom stick, that's all I'm gonna say about that.

I love bunny’s so much and I am absolutely horrified when people are so cruel to them but the way you put them out of their life is very humane. I do feel bad for the poor bunny but at least you aren’t cruel with ending it’s life ❤
