I noticed that this is sponsored by SKII so here is my take. I have been using Pitera for over a year and there is no change to the look and texture of my skin. I bought the jumbo size bottle so I am now getting to the end of it. The essence is composed of 7 ingredients: galactomyces - the fungus used to make sake, two water retaining moisturizers - butylene glycol and pentylene glycol, water, and three preservatives - sodium benzoate, methylparaben and sorbic acid. Many dermatologists have concluded that this is simply a VERY expensive VERY light moisturizer, where the moisturizing is provided by the two glycols. I used it on one side of my face for 2 months, twice per day, and there was no difference between the two sides. I am now using it up but I would not repurchase.

I’ve been using this essence for a little over 2 years and won’t be without it. I just turned 60 and this has made a world of difference in my skin-hydrating, glowing and moisturizing. About a year ago I purchased this essence at Costco for considerably less than I’ve seen it anywhere else. I’m nearly finished with the bottle and I’m delighted with the performance of this product. As a test, I have rubbed the excess on my left arm, the arm with the most brown spots and sun damage, each time I apply it to my face. I’m amazed at how the spots and sun damage have improved compared to my untreated right arm! I’m so pleased with the improvement in my complexion that, despite the price, I cannot imagine not continuing to use it daily.

The addition of Essences helped in my skin care routine. I found a few products that are effective at less than half the price of SK II; they are Missha Time Revolution Essence (Intense) ($30) and COSRX – Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence ($19). I use them as the next step after cleansing. My skin is plump, hydrated, and skin tone has improved. Both contain niacinamide which helps with skin tone.
Although not an essence with Pitera, Hada Labo makes a Whitening Lotion with Arbutin and hyaluronic acid, it sells for $18.

Love this Essence. I also spray my face with pure rose water. There are many ways to splurge on great products and also go organic and affordable ... Love using what works individually. SK is definitely part of my routine. A beautiful staple!

I have used sk2 for over a decade. I've occasionally tried other skin care lines because of the price, but I always come back. All I can say is, I used to have red, scaly bits around my nose and between brows, and redness and unevenness on the skin. I started using the essence and one of their moisturuzers (cellumination, which they no longer make) and it absolutely cleared up the flakiness and evened out skin tone. I don't care how much people make fun of me for spending the money, it has really worked for me. I will never forget, after using the line for maybe a year or so, and One Day my mother, may she rest in peace, said, what are you using on your skin it looks so great! I've used the SKII Essence for 2 years and noticed a visible difference in my skin. The texture was much softer and it definitely looked brighter and clearer with a glow. I switched for a few months to the AmorePacific Vintage Single Extract Essence (equally as pricey and which many people prefer) but didn't see any changesin my skin. I have heard that COSRX has a great essence that is much less expensive.

I don’t know about other people but I love that it makes my oily nose area not so oily. For me it feels like it tightens the area I apply it and it’s very light and refreshing. I got the 330ml bottle at Costco and hope they carry it for a long time so I can pay less than at a retail store.

Hey, Lisa i’m so glad you did this video! Because I too didn’t know what an essence was... i’m just getting back into skin care now after being out of it for so long, and a lot has changed.. I still have a lot of questions, and I’m still really confused about about a lot of it.. what do use, what not to use, what ingredients will go well together...getting the most for my money.. not overspending... anyway, are all essence work in the same way? And is it best to use both a toner and essence? I’m sorry for this long message.. any Advice you could give me on products routines and anti-aging skin would be greatly appreciated.. thank you..
