What we love about Hords Creek Lake COE (Corps of Engineers) Park:
1. Spacious, spread out, water view sites
2. Peaceful park
3. Wildlife - deer, birds, we saw a skunk and what looked like a fox, coyotes howling at sunset
4. Amazing sunsets!
5. Miles of roads to walk, bike, run, dog walks
6. Close to Coleman, Texas for supplies
Thanks to fellow campers giving us a tip - Check out Owl's Drug Store
with its old fashioned grill and soda fountain!
7. Sewer sites, not all, but some sites have sewer
8. The trees and wildflowers
9. Nice covered playground in one camping area
10. Rustic cabins
What we didn't love about Hords Creek COE Park:
1. Extreme wind - but it was springtime in Texas. If you plan on going there,
expect wind.
2. The lake was extremely low, all swim beaches are high and dry, no water
at the kayak launch. We saw signs in Texas: Pray for Rain, so if you are
the praying type, pray for rain for all of the drought affected areas in
Texas and the southwest.
3. Verizon service, roaming, weak
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Hords Creek Park.
Stay tuned for our next park, a Texas State Park.
