Which lens did you guys get first? And were you happy with your decision?

You're the most down to earth, honest guy I've seen on this subject - also extremely informative - thanks mate

Im getting the 30mm. Watch a ton of videos, and your advice is the best.

I have been using the sigma 56 for over 2 years now and its hands down my favourite lens for sony apsc. It is a little tight sometimes, but it still allows me to capture moments in time that draw the eye into the frame and make someone feel the picture. The subject seperation and sharpness it offers is just not matched by any apsc lens.

Finally purchased the the 30mm. This was probably the most helpful video in deciding.

You just helped me decide between getting the 30mm and the 56mm. Already own a 16 mm and since i am not that into portraits and rather more into videography, 30mm sounds like thebest for now. Thanks mate!

The talking head comparison you made was really appreciated! I've been trying to figure out how far back you'd need to be from your subject in order to record a video and that part of your video illustrated it really well!

56mm is my favourite but if you have none, start with the 30mm. You can get some wider shots and also portraits with DOF. 16mm is 24mm in FF land - quite wide and 56mm is very tight and a perfect 85mm equivalent.

Valeu! OMG! After a long, long time searching for a video like this, 1:45 is exactly what I needed until now! Thank you very much. Great idea to compare all three lenses like that! Now I have some videos to watch haha Thanks!

Nice video. Recently bought the zv-e10. Came with the kit lens and Sony 50mm-210mm zoom lens. Both are decent but not the best for indoors where the environment isn't well lit or low light as the images come out noisy. Couldn't decide between the 16 or 30 but after watching this video I think I'll go with the 30. Thanks for the advice!

Thank you for this video. I purchased the 30mm as my first out of the 3 and love it. I’ve been wanting to add another lens to my collection but have been torn between the 16mm and the 56mm. Very informative comparison

Hello Stuart, took your advise on the 30mm lens, very happy with the image quality coming out of it with the sony alpha 6700. Your detailed comparisons helped a lot. Cheers mate!

i too got the 16mm first, and i absolutely love it! HOWEVER, lol, it lacks the diversity of the 30mm, for the reasons you stated. so, whenever i'm on trips, the 30mm is my go-to. for portraits, i actually use the 70-200 sigma. it's easily my favorite lens! it's pricey, but it's just fun, and the end results look insane. great vid btw. subbed!

Having this lens has made me stop thinking about upgrading to full-frame... it is so good! And you, Stuart, played a big part in discovering it 2 years ago :)

I'm currently looking to get my first real camera and your point on the 16mm looking to close to a smartphone angle is exactly what I thought. If I want decently sharp wide angle photos, a smartphone can do that. Now of course, with a little bit of skill, you can make better photos on a camera with a 16mm lens, but the larger focal lengths are where the looks are created that you cannot get on a smartphone. And BIG THANK YOU for that comparison shot at 9:07, watched a lot of videos about lenses by now and this one shows the difference off the best.
