I remembered when you had a brutally honest review of the Corolla Cross G a few years ago. Since then, I knew I could count on your credibility as a car reviewer. Thanks for this.

Fun fact:

If you are lazy to press the button of the power tailgate, gently push down the tailgate.

The system will detect and close it for you.

Useful when you are in a dark parking space! 😀

i own the V variant and it ain't so bad. it just goes down to expectation. most cars in this price range will have their cons esp if you nitpick. Great review :)

So far the only unbiased and honest filipino car reviewer I've seen. If you know more "unbiased" reviewers, please share them with me. Thank you.

The big idea from Vince in this --> "The badge may say TOYOTA, but a lot of the things about the vehicle feel below what a Toyota should be."

I am coming from a 2002 Toyota Alexx, so I am extremely happy with my Yaris Cross.

Great review. Got myself the blue v variant ..i love the ride and driving it (coming from a manual sedan). You are right that it's a bit noisy, like plastic sound rubbing against each other esp when road is bumpy. The leather seats, hmmmp, mine got a "melted" surface look when a car freshener accidentally spilled on the surface. And yes, the quality of the paint...I've seen several hairlike scratches as early as less than a month even with much care when cleaning it. Otherwise, for its price point with the toyota safety sense.... it is a good buy. Overall, a happy owner here.

I asked an agent what's the estimated lifespan of the HEV battery, said it's 5 years, and the replacement is Php150k. All you save on fuel will only go to the battery replacement.

ofc vince will nitpick it, he already experienced other cars in the same price point that are built better and performs better. Objective and not blinded by badge loyalty

Passed on the Yaris X. Wanted so much to love the car but it feels so cheaply built for the price. Went for the Corolla X instead. While lacking some of the bells and whistles, the CX feels more worth your money.

Would love to see a review on the Mitsubishi Xforce, since they are pretty similar/ competitors

@9:00 under the hood, why some parts are white and some are red?
Possibly incomplete paint?🤔

Goddamn the hate on the car in these comments. 😅 Liked my pearl white V, coming from my previous 2019 Wigo - its a solid upgrade. Fortunately haven’t seen issues so far too, been Manila to Bicol Catanduanes twice, satisfied with the thing. Plus, with all the loaded specs as standard in the V together with the futuristic look, it wont look dated in 5-10 years.

Nah. We're set to buy a hybrid 5 seater next month & we checked out this Yaris Cross HEV. We're settling for the Nissan Kicks e-power instead.

how come that shoulder belt is so high on your neck, that is not how it should be placed on the body. Is it adjustable on the pillar where it is attached to the car ? I did not hear you mention the fact it has 6 airbags

Hello! How is its suspension compared to Veloz? Does it have a better suspension than the Veloz? Hopefully, I get an answer :)

I’d be getting the Toyota Yaris Cross this Friday. Hope it’s a good choice 😅

In comparison, Honda's 2014 1.5L engine produces 120 PS and 145 Nm of torque.

Have the HEV and honestly I can see Toyota, now that they're taking over more of the Daihatsu operations, will unify the Yaris Cross to share the DNGA design but moving to the TNGA platform. Also want to note the spare tire they give is actually a full-size, just not matching the stock tires (it matches stock tires of the turbodiesel Innova). But the wheels are definitely only for a spare. The space can also fit a full size stock tire, and why a lot of owners buy full size tires from other owners who fully replaced their tires and rims.

In regard to quality expectations, always tell potential new owners in our online groups to set expectations lower knowing its DNGA. It may be 1.3m or 1.6m for the HEV, but treat it like a 1.1m car that you're paying a premium for 1. Toyota Safety Sense, 2. Hybrid Technology, 3. Toyota badge. I made sure my family knew this before we chose this over the Corolla Cross. It may be the most expensive car we bought, but we shouldn't expect it to feel like the mid-size SUV we were replacing, and against our Innova and Ranger. Once expectations are set properly, we enjoy the car and despite its short comings has led to it being our favourite car to bring around now (even outside the tight city)
