Looks like someone has started to do a bit of work on this and has lost part of the power valve #ypvs system.
First year that the #yz250 was #watercooled - this is a 1982 #yamaha #yz250j
They had the radiator right in front of the handlebars and the cooling system went through the headstock of the bike. Like most this has been bypassed.
Looked very original and mostly in good condition just had some poor repair jobs over the years!
