How to emulate a Cisco Switch in GNS3

I know that you don't wanna buy the cisco switch for just your studies.
By Looking at this video you will be able to take a cisco router and use it as a cisco switch in GNS3.

Thank you. That helped ... I thought I would be stuck to only using the default (non-cofiguratble) switch that comes with gns3. Will try it out with the c3600 image. Hopefully, it has the commands you listed.

hi, nice video, i didn't know u can do this with the router but i have a question, does this means i can set up a STP on the router/switch ??

I connect three of these routers together and attach a VPCS and when I do ip dhcp...on the wire to the switch I can see the dhcp request but it doesn't forward it to the other routers. Is there something I'm not turning on?

i dont have the command "status" i have "stats" instead !!! and it shows the interfaces differently, beside ... there is no "switchport" command in the interface configuration mode !!!

Hi Moustapha, in fact i can't make a ping between two routers in the same lan (vlan 1 default of the switch) the first for example in the fa0/5 of the switch and the other in fa0/6

Thank you for the informative video. I got a doubt. The gns3 s/w i downloaded does not contain image for c3600 instead it has c1700, c2600, c2691, c3640, c3660, c3725, c3745, 3825, c3845 and c7200. I tried using c3660 but it throws error saying "using an ios imade made for another platform will likely not work". Please help.

when I typed switchport and hit enter I got the following error message % incomplete command.  Also when I went to show interface status is showed that the port is disable.
