When you acquire a CS-80 you must sign a document that states you will play some music from Bladerunner every time you turn it on.

I had the pleasure of owning one back in 1991. It was a floor model that never sold. It was the flagship of my synth collection, which numbered 46 keyboards in all. Because of it's unfortunate history of having technical issues, I sold it to a person who had the money and where with all to keep it perfect. No sooner did he get it home, a long cross country drive, it stopped working altogether. So he got it fixed, but I say this because they are extremely temperamental, and few people will work on them, or even know how. But a glorious instrument none the less. The keybed alone weighs around 100 lbs. and has a feel all it's own. To a real player, it's amazing.

One of the greatest synth sounds ever. To me, it’s the ultimate sound of the eighties

The late Richard Tandy did a lot with his YCS80 for ELO's late 70s sound to great effect. Thanks for putting this up.

Nothing changes. Cs80 still the most musical instrument. And 224. Perfect Vangelica duo 💙💛

Closest I've ever came to a cs80 was a vst. Grateful for that.

Same thing (added Sinus Wave) can be done on the Arp 2600/Behringer 2600.
As Anthony Marinelli showed on his channel about Michael Jacksons "Thriller", the Bass was from the 2600 and not the MiniMoog and the Sinus Wave added a certain oompth to the bottom with resonance turned up that he couldn't recreate on the MiniMoog. Ladder filters (as on the Moog and that version of the Arp) are known to drop bass when resonance is turned up and adding a Sine wave on the 2600 compensates for that!
This is also a well known studio trick, to add a sine wave to bring more bottom to some bass. But you have more control of it if it is part of a Synth that can be programmable.

I heard In an interview Taylor Swift heard one and these and she got one. And said this was one of the finest synths she ever played!

Never paid attention to this synth until I saw TOTO’S Steve Porcaro played it back in the 80’s. Man I remember that sound! That thing had “balls of sounds!”😳🎶🎹👍🏾

I could be wrong, but I think I read somewhere once that Eddie Jobson was one of the first, if not the first, to record an album with the CS80 (the UK debut album)

I have CSV 80 software version more than 15 years ago. Incredible powerful and i love it very much, BUT allways wanted a real one like this.
