If you've been involved to any degree in a church system, you may recognise or have heard the term “Spirit of Excellence.”

Daniel was said to have had An Excellent Spirit. So whats the difference and why does it matter?

I’m a little confused as to why Ian believes it was Daniel in the furnace with the other three. Is there scriptural evidence to support that position or did he receive it by revelation?

You cannot have a spirit of excellence without Honor. It always produces Honor towards others and in all situations, no matter the outcome. The opposite of that is when someone produces dishonor over others and situations/things.

I greatly appreciate this teaching on the difference between a spirit of excellence vs an excellent spirit.

I wanted to point out that in the section about Daniel I’m having a hard time with what you said about Daniel being the 4th man because the king that saw the 4 men in the furnace was not the king that threw Daniel in the lions den. It was King Nebuchadnezzar in the furnace event and King Darius in the lions den event.
