I refuse to watch any movie based in a videogame but I have to admit it, they went for the realistic approach pretty well with that particular moment in which the assassin throws a knife to the water to break the surface's tension. Most of the movies doesn't do that. I remember seeing that in Mythbusters years ago, back when Discovery Channel wasn't such a shit like now a days.

I love how he threw the knife in the water before he splashed in. Detailed realism boys.

Even if it wouldn’t make a significant difference in real life I realize it’s just a movie so I actually really like them including him throwing the knife in the water to break the surface and soften the impact. Even if people say this movie wasn’t good it shows some thought going into how they made the movie.

Things like the robot arm animus are dumb to me but I do feel like some people who made this movie really had a love for the games despite how the movie as a whole turned out.

Maybe the animus wouldn't keep fucking breaking if they used the easier version that's just a chair with a vr visor?

That he throwes the knife to break the water is really sick

One of the other videos that pops when searching for this scene is a video showing that they used a real-life stunt man to jump 125 feet to make this scene more realistic. The video says towards the end that the last stunt man to jump from that height was 35 years ago.

Why did he throw the knife in the water just before he hit? Did it soften the impact in some way?

Other than the animus, they got it down pretty well. Michael Fassbender kinda reminds me of Desmond with how he looks.

They said they did the leap of faith for real but what’s the point when it still looks CGI and it’s obscured by smoke. I didn’t find it believable.

One thing I can’t seem to see in this scene is what happened when Aquilar got hit with the crossbow bolt on the way down. He seems to reflexively move his arm to catch it or deflect it but I can’t tell if he caught it or if it’s sticking out of his body on his left side, the camera’s right side.
