[HOW TO]- Store Bitcoin On USB Stick - Guide

In this video I'll show you how to make a secure and encrypted USB Bitcoin Wallet. I'm going to use MultiBit to create this wallet and then store it onto a USB thumb drive for safe keeping. I'm also going to copy the contents of the USB drive onto multiple other USB drives so that my money is backed up in multiple locations. This way, if anything happens to one of my USB wallets, I can fall back on a copy that I made, and recover the bitcoins (BTC). Even though there are copies of my wallet files, they will all be updated to the real balance if any one of them is modified. This is because the private keys, once accessed with your password or pass phrase, within the Bitcoin network ultimately keep track of the money associated with them. This is why we can create this wallet offline, and allow the network to synchronize and verify that the funds that are supposed to be in our wallet appear. If necessary, we can send the funds from the USB stick to another wallet, either Online, Cloud, or Offline cold storage.

Thank you very informative! And I especially love the way you take time to explain everything. I'm older and very inexperienced in all of this, so it makes it much easier to listen to someone like yourself. Thanks again, Rochelle

Thank you for a very informative video. My question is the following: Is the USB stick you used in the video an off-the-shelf item? What is the difference between getting such a stick and a Ledger or a Trezor one? Thank you.

Tip on password security: While it obviously is correct to use numbers and symbols to further complicate the password, most of the strength of ones password actually comes from the number of characters. Most password cracking programs or bruteforces are programmed to try all combinations of symbols up until a certain amount of letters (most end around 14-16). So of course keep using numbers, symbols aswell as upper and lower case letters, but having a longer password is most of the time more important.

I hadn't once use USB or other form of hardware wallets, only decentralized non-custodial wallet I use. It has been very effective for me. I use atomic wallet precisely.

Hi this is from the Multibit.org website
Multibit is No Longer Supported
Dear Bitcoin Community,
It is time for us to let Multibit go.
KeepKey acquired Multibit a little over 1 year ago. At the time, the engineers who originally built and supported Multibit had announced that they would no longer be working on it or providing support. Multibit played an important role in the Bitcoin infrastructure. We felt that it was important for Multibit to continue and hoped that with our existing support and development teams, we would be able to keep Multibit alive.

Great video and advice. Given it's 3 years old, are there other better wallets to achieve the same concept for an offline wallet?
