H-King J3 Navy Cub (NE-1) 1400mm PNF - HobbyKing Product Video

This US Navy (NE-1) version of the popular Piper J3 Cub is a must for all scale pilots. The details of the plane are extremely realistic and it comes in a great 1400mm size and like all Cubs is very easy to fly.

During World War II the US Navy acquired 230 of the NE-1 version to use as a primary trainer. It was a dual flight control version with the instructor up front and the student sitting in the rear seat. A very stable platform for training.

Putting this together is a breeze with every component attached by screws, including the wing halves and tailplane. This makes it easily broken down for transportation. All servos (9g) are preinstalled as well as the 45A ESC and powerful 3648-700KV brushless motor. The scale detail is exceptional with plastic injection molded parts used extensively including the dummy engine, wing struts, and the dummy bungee under-carriage with large “Cub” wheels. Practical features include the linked steerable tailwheel, large magnetic battery hatch, construction of course from tough, and easy to repair EPO foam.

The beauty of the cub is the Light wing load. The ability to fly at a crawl. A fine bird!

Actually people complain that smaller RC J3 Cubs fly so fast because they do need to fly fast, because they are toooo heavy to have the ability to fly slow. Fast Cubs do not impress me at all because anyone can do that. To see a Cub flown slow, seemingly standing still, just like the real Cub looks in the air, means a well designed and built model and a skillful pilot as well.

I wouldn't mind one of those myself. Looks really good.

I wondered about the flying speed also.
Is this a "suitable trainer" or is it more suited to advanced flyers?
Seems at the speed flown in this video you'd need to be pretty sharp to retain full control.

I really like that plane.
I fly it with 4s 4000mAh Turnigy Nanotec lipo.
20min flying time and voltage is at 3.75V. 😀
Weight 1920g.
Only weak point is the front landing gear.
That should be a really suspension version. 😉

i seen a fair few comments saying it is too fast. it is fast enough on 3s, didnt try 4s myself. also it can fly real slow. one day google was saying 20kmh winds with up to 25kmh gusts, and i was able to fly on a spot/hover when flyin in to the wind, so thats your stall speed, just above casual jogging speed, althou i keep all of my planes a bit faster, dont want suprises-had enough of thoese. osd on that banggood f2s fc says 40-50kmh cruise and 70-80kmh max (roughly from top of my head), still quite controllable on 20ish kmh with throttle in horizontal flight, good response, again i dont practice flyin at stall speeds, safety reasons, maybe in occasional fly by.
i only got it to learn fpv on it because it is slow and it sure didnt fail me there. great plane for the money. buy as many spare parts with it as you can (props, spars, wing struts and that window between the wings, he holds the wing on leading edge and breaks in crashes easily (to be honest i never slammed any plane that hard in my life, second window survived another two mishaps, so maybe not so easily broken, i just like to keep stock i guess so i have 0 ground time when it hits d fan). paint is ok, and overall detail, but as any other foamie it scratches easily. if you have a paintbrush take pics for future reference my advice, and make yourself a template for landing gear wire.

Does it come with an FPV camera and a gimbal?
It stated so on the video but not on the product page...

people complaining because it does fly too fast? seriously? you know you can fly as fast as you actually want to, right? theres a throttle stick on your tx you can use to manage the speed. just in case you guys didn't know

I hope they have sorted out the way they fix the wings together because the last grass hopper I bought there is no way that they can be fixed together. Still waiting for a solution from HK, this was a year ago.

These pilots don't sell a seemingly lovely scale model to me. Flying MUCH, MUCH too fast. The slo-mo parts are actually about right. Ridiculous aerobatics too for the type. However, I'm no Aero-prude or pedant and, I have to admit that it is good to know that it can do these manoeuvres when you get bored with flying around realistically!! :)
