Binary addition and subtraction are fundamental operations in the binary number system, When adding binary numbers, we follow the same rules as decimal addition, with the key difference being that binary uses only two digits: 0 and 1. The process involves adding the bits column-wise, carrying over when the sum exceeds 1.
Similarly, for subtraction, you may need to borrow from higher bits to perform the operation correctly.
Binary Addition and Subtraction:
All digital circuits work in a binary number system and All athematic operations performed by ALU is based on Binary inputs or Binary numbers.
Binary Addition Rules:
0 + 0 = 0
0 + 1 = 1
1 + 0 = 1
1 + 1 = 0 (with 1 as carry)
Binary Subtraction Rules:
0 - 0 = 0
1- 0 = 1
1- 1 = 0
0 -1 = 1 (when 1 is borrowed)
