I have used the Onewind 11' Camping Hammock for over a year and a half now, in all kinds of weather conditions and in varying terrains.

I talk about my previous experience of living out of hammocks in various parts of the world, from the jungles of Brunei and Belize, to the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan, and why I love using them in the outdoors.

I then talk through the various functions and features of the hammock, and what I see as the pros and cons of this affordable camping hammock.

You can get yours at the Onewind website here;

Out of curiosity, why do you string your hammock up so flat? Do you just prefer that over having sag and laying diagonally?

I have 5 full hammock set ups and everyone I've put in a hammock has loved it, my hammocks range in price from £20 to my most expensive which is the onewind. All of them have bug nets and the ones that didn't have one I've added a structural ridge line. I also put a length of paracord on the zips so I can open and close the net without having to try and balance myself sitting up to try and find the zip😂. So much better than sleeping on the ground in a tent

Hammocks are for tropical beaches and gardens 😉

I have 3 hammocks 1 of which is a jungle hammock with built in bug net, only down side being it's a one way zip, apart from that all good. Yup get up off the floor when it's too wet or the floor moves too much as it will do in said places and was there for sane reasons. PNG without a hammock or tree house would be impossible.

Looks good. What sort of sleep bag do you use in it for this time of year? Good old Arctic bag or the British Army Medium? Or any thing else…?
All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧

My two penneth worth... I love the ease of setup with the straps and gate buckles. Take down and pack up is great too. The basic underblanket you can buy I have never been cold in our UK weather.
However, I am finding I am getting a far better sleep with my original cheapo hammock and underblanket. I'll hold full judgement for another few camps.
If it remains that I still like my cheapo hammock better, I shall change out the straps to the Onewind set as set up for those is sooo quick.

Good review Tom. I've heard good things about Onewind and the price is one of the best things about them. I like that you trialed it for over a year before you did your review. I've used a $20 hammock from Amazon and a Hennessy ultralight backpacker. Both worked well but In the backpacker I had the best sleep in the field I have ever had. Unfortunately I haven't been able to duplicate it lol
Take care.

I tried a 9 ft Snugpak Jungle Hammock, and then an 11 ft "big box" imported one. I watched another YouTube channel using the Onewind. I purchased a 12 ft extra wide and loved it so much I purchased a second one. Both of mine have the bottom entry bug net. I'm 5'8" and after several adjustments I'm am able to get a good flat lay. Even better I'm able to sleep on my side... almost on my stomach comfortably.

The hammock you just reviewed is the same one I have. I have the over under quilts and the one wind hot tent with a small wood stove. I am
Going to set this all up when it gets below 20 degrees Fahrenheit in northern Michigan. I am totally stoked to get to do this. Thanks!

Still using my ol' faithful DD Frontline hammock I bought at the Wilderness Gathering about 12 years ago now, double wall for inserting a kip mat and a moz net, yeah they are comfy and give a good night's sleep but there not for everyone. Good review Tom but I only need one and the DD is spot on. All the best to you bud. Paul.

This is interesting. I've never used a hammock as I live in the UK like you so sleep kit is essentially the deluxe edition of British Army Issue (air mat, warm sleeping bag). The UK is cold and wet most of the time and there aren't always trees, so that's what made sense to me. I can see a use in summer or for edc gear.
I'd like to know more about what to look for in a hammock set up. Could save me money if I did go down that route.
