Personalisation: Promoting independence in care homes

Personalisation means thinking about care and support services in an entirely different way. This means starting with the person as an individual with strengths, preferences and aspirations and putting them at the centre of the process of identifying their needs and making choices about how and when they are supported to live their lives. It requires a significant transformation of adult social care so that all systems, processes, staff and services are geared up to put people first.

The decisions here didn't only promote independence, they were also made in the best interest of the resident. Very instructive.

Both those in first scene are oldies from Eastenders, Paulines mum. In fact their all Eastenders stars including bad boy Nick Dots son.

I'm sure 'Emily' is played by the late actress Anna Wing (EastEnders Lou Beale)!

Private management of nursing and care homes can put elderly and sick people at risk more often than elderly people putting themselves at risk or others.
Do not depend on ratings of the likes of regulators from Care Quality commission

How can you be independent in a care home? It’s group living. You’ll always be talked out of what you want to do for the common good.

Now I am age 85 and living on my own in a two-bed bungalow with two 30 mins care every day. I am aware of care quality which varies from carer to carer because carers are angels, but not all carers are angels, which mean elderly people; le are often abused if the comp[; lain about their care or carers because many carers are carers to justify receiving social benefits instead of being trained with a university training with a keen interest in caring for elderly people.
