Drum Tuning and The EarthWorks DK7

Hello everyone. Here's my latest product review, and demo for an incredible set of drum microphones. The Earthworks DK7 Drum Mic Kit. I had the pleasure of using these awesome mics during my latest drum tuning /product review video shoot, and I have to say I ABSOLUTELY LOVE these microphones in the studio. So you could hear these mics straight up for yourselves, all drum sounds in this video are RAW FROM THE MIC! NO EQ (not even shelves), AND NO FX. We simply plugged em in, found the sweet spot on the preamps, and started recording awesome drum sounds. No extra engineering needed. Just pure drum sounds. In this video I show you how well the DM20s on my snare, and toms pick up even the subtlest of nuances of the different tuning intervals I use for my clients, and for myself. I also demo 3 great OH mic placements for the amazing SR25 OHs, and the perfect mic placement for getting a killer kick sound with the SR20LS Bass Drum Mic. Add in a bunch of great drum tuning tips, and this video is worth the full viewing. LOL!

I don't know how you can teach so much gold in only 13 minutes. Amaze-balls! I'm the guy with a Pearl Reference Pure at my blues venue in Japan. No mics other than an Audix D6 on the BD. I use all coated Ambassador heads at the P4 interval. 10 12 13 16 22. Only the 10 has a lesser interval to make it bend and sing. Fits seamlessly. Most of the sound is from your videos and personal advice. So I'd like to pass on all the compliments from my customers and musicians to you. Thank you!

I want to move into a larger venue space next year so this video is super helpful in my audio plan for drums. Luckily, I have a lot of support from pro guitarists too. And my sound tech is a genius who also shares my dream and supports our venue's growth. I hope to reward his loyalty by being able to pay him more soon. It's insane, but I totally hear it. The batter head doesn't affect the overall pitch when going from a 4th to a 3rd! This tracks what Mike Dawson tested in a Modern Drummer podcast, that the reso sets the pitch, while the batter gives you the feel and response. So cool!

Hey Kenny, love the tuning videos! I have a 13” 90s Premier APK tom, the depth is 12” - like a power tom - is there anything you would go about differently when tuning for toms of this depth?
