Have you ever felt like life is just a series of traffic jams—where every lane you switch to slows down?

Summary:
Ecclesiastes 9:1–10 shows us that life may feel unpredictable and out of our control, but we are invited to live with purpose. Through four powerful actions—surrendering to God, living with the end in mind, finding joy in simple blessings, and working with excellence—we discover how to live a life that truly matters under the sun.

Reflection + Group Discussion Questions:
1. What does it mean to surrender control to God in your everyday life?
2. How do you usually react when life feels out of your hands?
3. What would you want written on your tombstone? Why?
4. What are some temporary distractions that pull you away from eternal purposes?
5. How can you be more intentional with the time God has given you?
6. What small blessings did you enjoy this week that reminded you of God’s goodness?
7. How can you better reflect joy in your daily routine?
8. Are you working with excellence and purpose in your job, home, or ministry?
9. What “tools” or “treasures” will you leave behind as a legacy of your life?
10. Which of the four actions (surrender, end in mind, joy, excellence) is hardest for you—and what’s one step to grow in that area?

Thank you Vince. The men from our small group listen on a group text every morning. I have sent out going on 2 years now. We started with 8 men in our group and over time we are up to 14 every morning.

You remind me of Dave Ramsey and he always says to live on purpose.

God never uses the word "surrender" in the bible. I'd rather use the word "submit" not surrender. Surrender implies the white flag of giving up altogether. Rather, submit implies putting yourself under his guidance, control, and leadership.
