The Italian-built Azimut 86 has to be one of the biggest, and most noteable, high-performance boats in the country.
It is also Azimut’s, a company that has garnered a reputation for building some of the best luxury motor cruisers in the world, first venture into the high-performance market
Weighing in at a whopping 65-tonne, this beautiful, luxury cruiser is capable of speeds of up to 45 knots. It also burns about 800-litres of diesel for every hour it is doing that speed.
And it makes a spectacular sight as it goes producing a massive rooster tail behind it.
The rooster tail is a signature of the Arneson Drive system fitted to the Azimut 86. They also come with an option of Hamilton Jet Drive.
The Arneson Drive system is similar to a shaft drive system but there are no rudders. The shafts move horizontally so the props steer the boat. They also can be moved vertically to adjust the trim of the boat.
This is the only Azimut 86 in Australia and it arrived here just in time for the 2015 Sydney International Boat Show at Darling Harbour.
While it is easy to get caught up in the performance of this magnificent Italian-built motor yacht it also offers luxurious accommodation for up to eight guests and four crew.
There are four beautifully finished bedrooms all with their own ensuite.
The master suite is a midships and full beam and includes a lounge and big windows providing light and a spectacular view.
Upstairs there is a lounge/sitting room, that would not look out of place in any upmarket apartment, with a luxurious leather lounge and large 50-inch TV.
Outside it has a massive cockpit with two lounges, and a huge sunbed, there is also an equally impressive sunbed on the bow, BBQ and fridge.
This is a boat that is capable of taking the owners anywhere in the world and cosset them in luxury for the entire journey.
