We ride a floatplane over the Juneau Icefield, in Alaska, soaring above its stunning beauty of rugged snow-capped peaks, vast plateaus, glaciers with deep blue crevasses, and expansive waterways. Truly an adventure showcasing the awe-inspiring scale and beauty of these natural wonders. In Juneau, we board a DeHavilland Otter floatplane with Wings Airways on a 40-minute 5 Glacier Exploration Tour. We fly up along the Mendenhall Glacier, continue past Herbert Glacier, across Icefield peaks and plateaus with Devil’s Paw in the distance, reaching the east side past Sockeye Falls, looping around West Twin Glacier, Hole-In-The-Wall Glacier, and Taku Glacier, before proceeding down the expansive Taku River valley back to Juneau.

FYI: Highlights of this flight was included in my “Epic Alaska” video showcasing our entire cruise. Whereas this “Juneau Icefield” video is a “directors cut” with additional content dedicated only to the floatplane tour. I plan to gradually release dedicated videos for other Alaska destinations as well.

Video was captured in July 2023 on a Sony FX30 camera, 4K 60P, S-Cinetone, with a Sony E 15mm F1.4 G lens. Scenes with zoom were captured on a Sony FDR-AX43.
