Recently in dragon ball super we learned that beerus has been confirmed stronger than goku, and also seen for the first time ultra ego vegeta. For the first time now, ultra instinct goku and Ultra ego vegeta will fuse to become ultra ego, and test their power against the strongest god of destruction, beerus.

Here's my theory, I think at the end of it Whis is training Goku to be the new "Angel" and Beerus is training Vegeta to be the new "God". They've observed that Goku and Vegeta live to train and push each other to reach higher limits so it's a win-win for everyone, they get to train for eternity and Whis and Beerus can just spend their time relaxing eating and relaxing.
