Показать описание
Saturday, July 9
Schaeffer Theatre, 7:30 p.m.
$20 / $15 / $12 (Adults/Seniors/Students)
DanceNOW features fresh voices from a new generation of dance makers. The evening offers up a stylistic cornucopia with something for everyone! Called Back, a trio by Houston favorite Hope Stone Dance, is a commemoration of key moments in the sometimes ebullient, sometimes apathetic journey of life. NYC mover and shaker, Dante Brown/Warehouse Dance presents Package, a trio exploring how male bodies are depicted in popular culture. Post-modern, elephant JANE dance, offers Leslie, an exquisite yet quiet and contained quartet. Also on the program, new works by hip-hop dynamo, Shakia Johnson and emerging artist, Ali Kenner Brodsky. Setting the stage for an exciting season, this opener will intrigue and entertain!
A talkback with the artists will follow the concert.
“The trio of Courtney D. Jones, Alonzo Lee Moore IV, and Candace Rattliff are powerhouses… Dressed in trench coats and shielded by umbrellas, they jazz it up…” Adam Castañeda, Houstonia Magazine
