Many learner drivers struggle with keeping the car centered and steering around bends when they start driving. In this video you can see how I help Emily get better at steering in a safe and relaxed way.

Richard seems like such a good instructor that he could teach you how to drive over the phone 🤣

Hi Richard, I've been watching your videos for the entirity of my 1 year, 8 month journey of learning to drive, happy to say I passed last week, first time, ZERO faults. Your videos helped me massively, thank you so much!!!

Something to always remember when a beginner is to never compare your beginning to someone else's middle.

I passed today with only 2 minors. I’m just making the rounds to my favourite driving channels to say thank you so much for the help. My instructor was brilliant and taught me well and these YouTube channels helped me learn between lessons. So, again, a BIG THANK YOU.

Conquer Driving helped me big time with clutch control, gears and steering. You were a big help during the first month of my driving lessons and the mock tests you did were soooo helpful in preparing myself for the real test.

I think Emily is doing fantastically during these lessons. Also, whether she realises it or not, being recorded and it being posted online for thousands of people to see is just going to make things harder no matter what. I think she shouldn't be so harsh on herself or compare her abilities to anyone else!

What a sensible young lady, I think she's going to do very well. Props to you as well Richard for being so calm, and patient with her. We oftentimes forget how daunting and difficult it is in the very early stages when watching these videos, but we have all been there. I struggled tremendously with steering when I first started too.

Like Emily I struggled with steering early on in my lessons; in fact my instructor told me that out of the hundreds of people he'd taught I was BY FAR the worst case he'd ever seen! 🙈

But with a few more lessons (and a small amount of private practice with my partner on weekends) I gradually improved.

I passed my test (first time with no minors 🥳) last November and been driving for 9 months now; I still have to pay attention to my lane discipline as it seems that my brain is sometimes trying to sabotage me (I suspect I might have a form of dyspraxia although I've never been formally diagnosed) but with experience I continue to get better at it and I certainly feel I'm a safe driver. ☺️

So Emily, keep practising and I promise soon you will have forgotten all about any issues with steering! Onwards and upwards, you're doing great! 🙌🏻

I am 45 and I passed my manual practical test 2 days ago at first go. I had been watching your vids a lot and they helped massively. I also had a very calm and patient instructor. Interestingly, what helped me the most to overcome the initial anxiety was my passion for sim racing, both rally and GT3. My muscle memory for gear changes, steering, mirror checks, etc was all in place and ready. I remember you had a vid on City Car Driving and I used that game as well. Also Euro Truck Simulator. All of this together made for an easy pass. All the best. Lukas

awh i totally get when Emily said about not wanting to go over 10mph. i started to learn to drive in my car with my dad before having lessons and 10-20mph was my comfort zone ahah. i had about 10hrs of practice with him - going up to 30mph, and then started lessons. on my second lesson i drove comfortably at 60mph and even did a big busy roundabout. those 10hrs in my car really built my confidence for proper lessons bc i knew that my instructor had control too. third lesson was big roundabouts :)

Got my driver's license a year now and I couldn't have done it without this channel. Thank you so much.

Even though I got my license for a year now, watching this video, I'm kind of nostalgic of the time when I used to do these driving lessons. Emily is amazing, would definitely love to see more!

This is amazing. I personally never had a problem with steering, in fact my instructor thought I had driven before because my steering was so good, so to see the techniques used here to break down what goes down behind it is so awesome. Emily is such a fast learner too and he teaches so well. What a great team 🔥

Just passed second time with 0 faults, and your videos have helped immensely as I didn't have a driving instructor, just my mum. So thank you so much for saving me all that money and helping me understand driving

I’ve now passed largely because of your tutorial videos. Thank you very much and keep up the great work!

Have been watching your videos for just over a year back when I started lessons and passed today for the 2nd time with 2 minors. Richard, your positive attitude and straightforward explanations/approach to teaching were super helpful. Massive thank you and good luck to those yet to pass!

Now that I've watched the rest of the video, I can't go without... writing another commentary. But this one's going to be short and it's just a big thank you, both to Richard and, maybe even more, to Emily. It's really brave to let so many strangers watch one struggle one's way through something that they learn for the first time, and so generous to take that additional stress and distraction.
It's very much appreciated!
Also, congratulations on the visible progress that was made in the course of just that one lesson!

Its great to see your learner react to the advice and see their ability and confidence grow with each turn. Reaching these small stepstones and not be discouraged on the way really helps.
