Curiosity, Space, and Beyond

Adam Steltzner is currently the Chief Engineer of the Mars 2020 project. Most recently he was the Manager of the Entry, Descent and Landing phase of the Mars Science Laboratory project. In recounting the decade-long effort to make this harrowing mission possible, he asks: Why do we take on the seemingly impossible? Why do we explore, despite it being impractical? What could we realize if we all let our curiosity free?
