I’ve shot about 40 weddings now. Most of that time with two 6Ds. I had 24-80 f/2.8L II on one and the 70-200 f/2.8L IS II on the other. Even now that I own a 5D mark IV, I shoot with 1 6D with the 5D4 and get just as many keepers with the 6D. Awesome camera!!

Event photographer here, 2 of my friends shoot weddings with the 6D and they love it, good solid camera which actually has a better sensor then the one in the 5D III, I agree though that the Nikon D610 is a better photo camera then the 6D, Lenses I would recommend are actually the 24-70mm 2.8 and 70-200mm 2.8, gives you an extra stop of light compared to the F4 lenses and if you can add an 85mm 1.8 then that's a great plus.

I purchased the 6d when it came out because of it's wireless ability. I don't have an extensive lens collection, but is the best camera I've ever used, I've only owned two DSLR's my 1st was the Nikon D100 and I moved to the 6D. I'm not super professional but I've earned plenty of money with the skill set that I do have. To make a long story short it's your ability to manipulate lighting and your eye that allows you to produce great images along with you equipment!

I own a 6D, you can shoot with almost any camera if you know what you are doing.

I used a CANON EOS 600D for three weddings, when my old CANON EOS 1Ds II had a malfunction. No problem.
It's primary the skills of the photographer that matters.

Great FF images from the 6D.   The 6D does not have the most convenient auto focus system of DSLR's but it  still does the job especially in low light.   Moire issue aside you can get excellent video footage from it too.   I can't justify getting the 5D Mark 3 (though I'm not a full time professional)  I'd probably get a 7D as a back up if  the autofocus was a real issue - but the 6D can do a job.

I think weddings are a warm feeling atmosphere, where there are warm pastel colors and warm people and happy people in low light settings and a lot of white, so cameras with perfect white balance is a must. I have preferred Canon as my wedding equipment for years and a 6D with the top of the line flash bouncing only and available light have always given me the best results and happy

Canon 6D is a great camera and I take lots of pictures of flying birds. Tracking a moving object is not a problem but you have to do some exercise first!

Agreed, essentially any camera can be used for wedding photography. I would suggest however that Weddings can be quite demanding with lots of variation in shooting conditions. Faster lenses are better so no matter what system you use get some decent glass. Zooms are likely to be more useful than carrying several primes but again you'll need fast ( so expensive ) zooms. And no matter what camera you buy don't forget lighting! Don't count on ambient only shooting for weddings. Buy at least a couple of decent flashes because no matter how good the lens and camera, if the light sucks your pictures will suck 😃

I personally do most of my shooting on D750s, if only because they're not THAT much more expensive then 610s in the grand scheme of things. The 6D is still a fine camera with that center cross type point that is insanely sensitive, and can actually be had for a fairly good price if you can pick it up refurb from Canon's store. Same warranty, and from my experience everything from them looks basically brand new.

I've had both d610 is better for photos but not as clean video but it's very very usable, just use faster glass and you will be fine.

Yes, yes you can. I just did. I used a Canon 50 mm f 1.8, and a 70-200 f2.8 usm L. As the wedding moved indoors, light was still ok enough to get some pictures without flash at first. There was decent natural light. As the sun went down, a flash was added that I only paid 40$ for.

hey Matt. love the videos and watch almost every review. but now I need your advice. I have d610 but want something better. I feel the Fuji xt-2 is way better in many ways. I do sports, portraits and work for a paper. hope for your advice. :)

Hey, I started with the canon t6i and I'm looking to upgrade. I shoot mainly portraits, weddings and some social events! I was thinking the canon 5d miii, Nikon d750 or the d810. What would you suggest? I usually only do stills. Very little video

Hey, I would like to buy Canon 80d. I am very much interested about the product features. My main objective is wedding photography(about to start my career). Also little bit videography too. So for photography with 80d, which affordable lens I need to use to get nice pics?
Note: 4K, crop or full frame doesn't make huge difference for me.

a pair of upcoming 6DII
or one old 6D & another 6DII + 24-70/4L IS + 135L (85/1.8 USM is a good for a non-L, if 135 is beyond budget).

the new 24-105 II is good but not great, and anyone of the two 5 year old 24-70 lenses : f/4 or f/2.8II should be selected for image quality, however for convenience 24-105 should be it.
