we used to put little floating charms and beads in them

Spinning the bottle causes the densest component (water) of the fluid to go to the outside. While the less dense oil is at the centre of the tornado.

If you've ever watched a helium ballon in a car you'll see the ballon move in the opposite direction to what you'd expect. When you turn a corner the ballon goes towards the corner instead of away.

My science teacher had this back when I was in 1st grade of elementary school that and then during the spring the whole class and I decided to raise caterpillars and turn them into butterflies and release them when they fully matured out in the playground.
