Why is this Lawn Turning Brown? #shorts

Why is this lawn turning brown? There are many reasons a lawn may turn brown including lack of water, insects like armyworms or chinchbugs, herbicide damage, or even frost damage. In this situation this bermuda lawn is brown because it was too tall and then cut too short. To fix this problem, the lawn would need to be cut more often and/or raise the cutting height. Mowing in the evening time may also be helpful.

Northern Louisiana lawn here ... my lawn improved when I cut it short in early spring and gradually raised the mower deck so it was at maximum height by end of July through September. At least this has worked for me.

Question, I have about 200 Lawn clients and I have always thought that dead lines were just the grass being laid down by the wheel when it’s going dormant and just doesn’t have the strength to stand back up. I also don’t cut below 3.75 and generally those spots are on clients who don’t water either.

Use a reel mower when your scalping from that height. Cut it to 4” with the rotary than take it down again to 2-3” with the reel so it doesn’t burn the crowns

That grass also turns brown in the winter time.. it goes dormant

Thanks was wondering and what you said is exactly what our landlord does to our yard. Up setting

Excellent explanation. This helped me on my cool season grass. I went from 3 inches to 1/2 inch in less than a week. Shocked it for about a month.

When I don’t water the lawn and we get a real hot day the grass burns up sometimes cause there’s no shade here

This is exactly what I suspected. My yard man was cutting too low and the sun would burn it . Where ever the mower turn, the grass will show that too. It turns dormant in fall and winter. Should I continue to cut high in fall or does it matter. I think I have Zoysia with maybe some Bermuda got mixed in over the years. You answered my question with this video. Thank you.

Heat Stress. T has been extremelly hot in GA during June-July. Water and frequent mowing will take quick care of this problem.

Wow! I just got a new lawn service a month ago and my lawn died almost instantly. I thought it was my weed service that killed it. I've owned my home for over 20 years and my lawn has never looked worse.

That is partly from the mower, but also from lack of water. It’s trauma from being squished by the wheels after severe heat and drought.

The grass is always yellow were I live and my mom kept on it mowing every day. It look really bad since no grass was growing

For good measure I would also treat it as it were hydrophobic. Lawns on hilly areas are especially susceptible and the water just runs off, drying out the grass. Get a hose sprayer attachment and hit the lawn with baby shampoo. It’s a good monthly routine regardless and will keep your soil open and able to take in water

Not enough context man. What time of year is it? Where are you? How has the weather been? Do they have irrigation? Do they use a lawn fertilizer service? Details man details

This is exactly what happened to our bermuda lawn. It was cut too short and now it turned brown. What should we do? Any advice on how often we need to water? Is it a good idea to add fertilizer?

A fungus may not grow in straight lines but if the tires were not washed off after mowing a lawn with a fungus you can bring it over on your tires

Cutting more than a 1.5 inches off at one time can cause this with Bermuda grass will cause this.
Set your mower height and work it down slowly cutting it every 3 days.
If you have really tall grass.

If I continue to cut short but cut more frequently, will the grass repair and adjust itself to that and then stay alive?

This happens to my lawn too. Weird but after a few days after I cut it this happens in certain areas.
