Wow...! Seeing that dashboard & the gearshift with the “bend” & black rubber boot at the base reminded me of being a kid again my Dad putting his hand over mine as we shifted gears ⚙️ together 😁... He had a 77’ 3/4 ton. Brown Chevy... Thanks Mike! Great Video!!

Nice video! I appreciate you taking the time to post this. It's always good to see how someone else does their fixes.

Hi Mike! For the viewers FYI, Mike wired or fed his power for the positive on the new gauge from an Ignition source from his fuse box, which is acceptable and I have done also. He referred to it as fuseable link and not to be confused with a Fuseable link wire used instead of a line fuse, breaker, or relay. Sorry for butting in Mike. Hope you don't mind sir, NO bashing of your work intended. Cheers from Motown.

If that's a volt meter or a battery conductance tester then it looks ancient, but very well cared for (you must take good care of your tools). Haven't seen an analog one in forever. 🙂

Seeing that voltimeter/battery tester took me to memory lane, to the times when my father was starting his own mechanic shop.

Good times.

Thank you I’m a young mechanic I can tell you anything wrong with a new car but I couldnt tell you how to wire a older truck the old fashioned way still learning and this adds to my skill set

Instructions, who needs instructions when you’re Mike Haduck? It’s no big deal! Now where did I hear these famous words before, haha?
That truck was from a better time in our lives. I sure miss my manual transmissions.

The brushes were probably worn out on the old one. If so, new brushes and bearings and it will be good for another 150K.

What about the light bulb to the gauge ? Ground and then dimmer switch wire ?

I hate red idiot lights! Vehicles should have full gauges. It's funny because looking at the dash it appears like there should've been a cluster of full gauges in the big round openings where the idiot lights are. They might've been optional and they just weren't purchased when the truck was new. GM seemed notorious for that. I had several GM vehicles that had lots of dash openings where there seemingly should be gauges but they just used a speedo, gas gauge and a bunch of idiot lights where the gauges should be.
