My thoughts are with President Zelensky and Ukraine as i listen to this plaintive plea to God...Looking back as well on the days of Asaph, author of Psalm 80, so distraught that he longed to see the Lord's face. From his vantage point in Jerusalem, he saw Judah's sister-state collapse under the assault of the Assyrian Empire. With the buffer-state gone, Judah was rendered vulnerable to invasion from all sides...Assyria from the North, Egypt from the South, and the Arab nations from the East. Asaph turned his eyes upon God and in his prayer, repeated three times " Make your face shine on us that we may be saved."
