This is a great function because you can get your first impulse committed just as you feel it. You've GOT to be able to fly through the steps, though, and this sure helps!

I get so busy with work that I can't record my own stuff for months on end, and I forget the command series for tap tempo, beat mapping, side chaining, etc. Thanks for getting me right up to speed.

In the arrange window, press G. This opens up your markers, signatures, tempo, etc to where its more visible. you can move to the marker where you want the tempo change, and edit the tempo in the transport bar at the bottom. If you want a curve, you can either try out your hand at making curves or an accelerando/decelerando, or check out Tempo Operations in Options>Tempo>Tempo Operations, or Option+T is the default command. there you can determine how long & where tempo changes are.

2 questions. 
1. how did you set the shortcut to "*" when I have to press shift 8 to get the * it is a totally different shortcut.
2. what if you have an audio file (song) that you are trying to tap the tempo to. Can you play it and tap at the same time?

This can be achieved much quicker by simply going to Settings>Synchronization and click the Auto enable external sync box, then you can also use the default tap tempo command Shift+T without having to click on the sync button in the transport bar.

Hey man - thanks - I am figuring out how I can simply start playing a beat on my Maschine and it automatically follow that tempo - the help in Logic seems to say it's possible, but doesn't look like it! Anyone know the answer to this?

I'm using Logic X and have followed all the steps, and checked my tempo interpreter settings too, however when I enable 'manual' sync mode and press my 'assigned key' nothing happens...???...Any thoughts?

I do the same thing! haha But i still do it just to make sure sometimes plus it gives me a reason to have a metronome :)

how do you tap tempo and avoid the sequencer to start playing. so you tap the tempo, the tempo changes but the sequencer stays static? Thanks...

this is the default setting. you can change it by going to the dropdown menu Options>Tempo>Tempo Interpreter.

when ever i tap tempo i dont get the click sound and my sample that i put into the sequencer does not play I want the sample to play as im tapping the tempo is there a way to fix this thanks.

Hi how do you set up a tempo in 3/4 time signature. I agree man logic is hard work to learn! I am using logic 8 a bit older but still has everything i need.
