Fire Alarm Playing Music

I believe someone probably installed a 4-inch full-range car speaker in the alarm because it has a lot of bass!

This is up to code, (or at least it used to be) but there are some caveats. For instance, you need a system that automatically shuts off the music in an emergency. (The companies that manufacture fire alarms make these.) These alarms are not just loud horns like most, they actually give directions to the occupants of a building in the instance that people need to leave. I believe this is a weatherproof fire alarm device by a company called Wheelock. Model is likely ET70WP. Some actually sound surprisingly decent too, but looking at photos, these should have sealed back drivers, like a midrange or tweeter would have, and contain transformers for what I’m pretty sure is a 24V line signal, default for voice evacuation systems like this. Modifying these is, however, not up to code and could get you in hot water.
A bit of the opposite scenario often happens in stadiums and arenas: their main PA system is often hooked up to the fire alarm system, and will shut off and play the evacuation message in an alarm condition. It’s interesting technology, and kind of a rare sight to be honest.
