Why we cover our ears immediately the moment a really loud sound is played?

The question is about people bearing pain, some can just continue to go with it before they give up. But for us, our ears, once we react to really loud sounds (not counting metal fans in heavy metal concerts), we tend to immediately cover our ears to reduce the pain.

So what's going on when your eyes were very hazel in childhood up 'till about 10 years old, then slowly darkened dramatically until they're a very dark brown by the end of highschool?

And sometimes they actually look more orange than anything else?

Light eyes are recessive, melanin is not recessive babies sometimes have not finished developing so their eyes are blue which is a recessive gene, but when it's complete they turn darker or brown or they have melanin which is good thing.

The only person I've seen whose eye color has changed is my younger cousin. When he was born, his eyes were green. He's twelve now and they got darker with time, they're sort of a dark hazel color.

Human infants aren't the only babies whose eyes darken as they grow up. Baby corvids (crows, ravens, etc) often have blue eyes that darken to brown.
