Korean air is known for not preferring RR engines, so my guess is on 777x

More 747-8s would be nice but I don't see it happening

I Think They Will Go With The 777X Option, Cheaper Crew Training Since They Have B777 Family Already In Service.

And They Will Order More 787-9 Too.

My guess would be Boeing .. not for any particular aircraft performance reasons but for hugely political ones

Slim chance but if they were to order more 747-8i's that would be cool.

787 or 777x are probably going to be ordered

Ideally, a large international airline should have no more than two aircraft families, to simplify maintenance and spares. For me, this is either the A320neo + A350 combo or A320neo + 787 combo. Price and delivery slots being the determinants.

Ah Korean Air, managed to have a conversation with someone who works at Tullamarine and they told me that Korean are trying to get into Melbourne again.

Korean Air has one of the best services out there in the airline industry in my opinion! I'm surprised it really hasn't been talked about in this channel until now.

So I think they are going with B777-8(For 777-200ER Replacement) or -10(If it becomes reality, For A380 Replacement?)... I don't think that KAL would order 777-9s because their 777-300ER orders aren't still completed.

KAL is using Oracle Complex MRO application for their fleet maintenance. That is also supporting them.

B-787-8, 9 & 10 would give Korean Air similarities plus’s variety of size. Of course, my personal favorite is B- 747-8i as to a strong image statement and large wide body carrier!

The 787, A350, A321 neo and 777 combo is deadly- all in one package

More A380s... hahaha. Although it would be great it most probably wont happen.

My guess is actually 3 planes, the 787-9, 787-10 and 777x-9. It makes sense to have the two 787 variants to serve different markets and minimize training and maintenance costs. I believe they will still need a big plane for their major hub routes, and that will be the 777x.

Korean Air has never been RR operator after retirement of F100s and since they have their own engine maintanance facilities. So A350 could be just a lip service to Airbus, or maybe waiting for P&W and GE to make alternative engines, but currently I heard none of those being developed.

So I think it'll be B789s for A330 CEOS, B779s for B772Es, B773 and 773W . But Korean Air has been keep receiving 773Ws up to this day and still have some left to come, so 777x family's time for Korean Air could come a bit later.

Alternatively, for short and heavy density routes, they could go for B78X or early 773Ws with restructured cabin. Or 778 is just another option. Will have to wait for next year.

Streamlining with 787-9s & 777Xs plus some more 747-8is on the side, just because...
