Hey guys, welcome back to my YouTube channel. In this video, I wanted to show how to use the Cricut Joy machine if you are a beginner. I talk through how to use Cricut Design space to create a simple and easy personalised word vinyl design.
I share each step slowly so that even if you're coming to this video as a complete beginner you can hopefully leave with an understanding of how to make the most of your Cricut Joy machine.
I talk through the basics of the Cricut Joy, Smart Permanent Vinyl, personalising words on Design Space, Cricut Access, and lastly how to put your word design onto a base product like a wooden box.

Hallelujah! I think I understand it! I’ve watched many (too fast) videos and people have to understand what beginner videos are. I took a class in college that the instructor required us to write our paper to explain a modern appliance to a 1920’s remote village people. It had to be simplistic enough for them to understand and I’ve used the same technique when I was training personnel. You have successfully taught at that level as many experienced cricut users assume that everybody knows the basics.

I've found that if you use the scraper tool on the front in different directions and on the back as well, it sticks to the transfer tape without any problems. This is especially important with thin lines in a design.

You basically just explained a 2 in one tutorial that is amazing! You showed how to generally use the cricut machine but how to layer aswell witch can be super difficult & confusing watching other people's videos but you showed it so simple without any complex instructions :)

Hi, I wanted a cricut for so long and eventually got one for Christmas. I must admit the fear of not knowing what to do, where to start and tbh can I do it has forced me to leave it still boxed. I cant even figure how to change sizing on a computer so I am dreading this. I was told just buy vinyl it doesnt have to be cricut, so I did, but to find out hundreds of pounds later all vinyl are not the same. I have been told 641 is to thick for cricut joy and the permenant gloss one is no good for tumblers. I honestly dont know what to do. I am so pleased Ive found a UK channel I can watch and follow and hopefully not give it up as a bad idea. I watched you first video as suggested n my anxiety was through the you for sharing. Youve got a new sub.

Thanks so much! Ive had my machine for a year and a half and havent used it. I might try to do some Christmas ornaments this weekend. Question: Do you always have to use the fonts and stuff that is there or can you make your own designs and stuff? I do a lot of graphic work where I usually create my own designs in photoshop or something so can you like import stuff like that. For example a logo I designed for a business? Thanks so much!

Great video, I am new, why did you have to use transfer tape, is'nt the vinyl all the same, I don't understand. Also can you use a regular iron for iron on vinyl, instead of purchasing a press?
