I have to watch your other fruit tree videos.
Started a dwarf plum the fall of 22', tree was fine and dandy, until we got 60mph winds this spring that broke 3 main branches off.
The tree is still doing OK, but I definitely need to give it some TLC.

Very timely! My espalier apple trees are loaded this year (3rd year in the ground) so I started thinning last week. I'm glad to get your advice to make sure I'm thinning enough.

Working with four Paw Paw trees I bought from a farmer’s market, man started them from seed and I got them at roughly six inches. In the third growing season and they are from two feet to over three feet. So I have to wait for them to get old enough to fruit.😊

I can’t help but to laugh when you said you waited Four Years! I know what you mean. I had peaches the first year at my last place, moved 2 miles away and I’ve tried Three times to get a peach to survive. This year I bought a potted late bloomer—we will see as it will be my Fourth try!
As discussed earlier I had high hopes for a ton of plums and you helped me pinpoint why I have 2 plums—it was that dreaded cold week we had.

Great sharing Scott. If l can add here l have a dwarf Granny Smith and dwarf Pink Lady in 40 cm pots that are 3 years old. I will repot them into 50 cm next season. I grew out 5 apples near full size on one branch however l did provide support with cotton twine to either the steak or main branch as they are young and not strong enough to support that amount of fruit. The tree was able to supply nutrients to each fruit throughout the growing season. Thank you for sharing. Jason from Melbourne Australia. I hope you have started your chess game with your son. I have been growing 3 apple trees and they haven't fruited. How long do I have to wait? I got the apple trees from Durango, CO. I live in NW New Mexico in the desert, a lot of high wind, cold, and heat (in summer). I don't think I have pruned them properly. Need help, what should I do to make the trees fruit.

When we lived in San Jose, CA my father "inherited" some productive, mature fruit trees that he never tended to. The summer I stayed at his house, we'd sometimes be awakened by the sharp cracking noise of big branches of the apricot tree breaking under the weight. It really was a shame, and his wife thought she had solved the problem by propping up the branches with clothes poles so they'd "heal" ...smh

You’re better off to wait until the June drop. Allow nature to prune the tree itself, and then selectively remove to about 5- 6” apart.
