Look and see how there is absolutely no tension in her throat while she's singing -Emmy Lou is one of a kind.

Willie Nelson said there are two kinds of men, those that love her and those that haven’t meet her yet.

Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell’s performance on Austin City Limits in 1982 was nothing short of perfection. This show was the first time that Emmylou had made an appearance on ACL, and it was also Rodney’s debut as well as his last time performing with the Cherry Bombs before launching a solo career.

That year, a skyline backdrop of Austin was added to the set. The addition of the skyline was a huge hit with the viewers. Producer Terry Lickona also made the decision to have John Mills record the opening theme instead of using “London Homesick Blues, ” which was the original opening theme.

The year 1982 was a big year for music. It saw the release of “Fool Hearted Memory” by George Strait, “Cherokee Fiddle” by Johnny Lee, and “A Country Boy Can Survive” by Hank Williams Jr. This was also the year of popular movies like “Rocky III, ” “Night Shift, ” and “The Soldier.”👍

I saw Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell, & Vince Gill all on stage at American legion post 82 in 2019.
She is my favorite singer. What a night. What a performance. She left the stage with such evasive skill my attempt to waylay her and express my undying love for her was thwarted. She then retreated to the rear of the room. Brendan the host was talking to her. Then a fan was wearing her out. When he left I made my move. Her tall friend was standing with his back to the wall and she very pointedly was almost up against him with her back to everyone. I could sense she wanted to be left alone but my cause had to be advanced. I stood behind her and tapped her on the shoulder once...twice... ignored. I pressed my attack with a third tap. I saw her friend give her a look and point my way as to indicate with a shrug that I wasn't going away. She turned her heavenly face to me and I grasped her hand in mine. I said" thank you so much for doing this. Thank you so much for doing this. You sing so good. You're so pretty. I love you so much. I love you so much" in a plaintive heart felt tone. I held her hand throughout. Upon "you're so pretty" she made the sweetest little sound and teared up a little. I walked away as soon as my words had finished. Hand to god that's how it happened. I held the Woman's hand and she wept as I looked into her eyes. I'll never forget any of it. What a night

Heard her live around about that time. There are many pretenders and a few great ones and she is certainly one of those.

One time back in the early 80's around the time this Austin City Limits show was filmed, I had the pleasure of going to Tut's, a small club in Chicago with Emmylou Harris, and her drummer and bass player and his girlfriend, to sit together with them and dance with Emmylou until 3am to the amazing reggae band Burning Spear! She was so much fun to dance with in her own unique country western style of dancing, but to reggae! What a riot! I adore this classy talented woman! She has the best female voice in folk/country on the planet!
