Bone disease is a common complication in adolescents and adults with cystic fibrosis. To optimize bone health it is important to achieve a healthy BMI greater than or equal to fiftieth percentile encourage weight-bearing exercise, and maintain adequate Vitamin 25 (OH) D and calcium intake. This session highlights the registered dietitian (RD) and physical therapist (PT) role in achieving optimal bone health throughout the lifespan. We also learn from endocrinology about the use of DEXA scans, bone screening guidelines, and use of medications for decreased bone density.
