Mount Jerome Cemetery & Crematorium (Irish: Reilig Chnocán Iaróm) is situated in Harold's Cross on the south side of Dublin, Ireland. Since its foundation in 1836, it has witnessed over 300,000 burials. Originally an exclusively Protestant cemetery, Roman Catholics have also been buried there since the 1920s.

My great great grandmother is buried in that cemetery the avatar on her stone reads a faithful servant for 44 years and her name . The family she worked for from the age of 13 really Treated her with the upmost respect which for the day was quite the rarity and the story is still passed down through my family to this day . They paid for her funeral and stone and insisted she had one of the best resting places in the cemetery which was fairly new at the time . I’ve only made the Journey twice in my lifetime to visit her resting place .

Beautiful cemetery. Poor Edward. Wonder what caused his casket to collapse like that. I remember my great-grandmother telling us of a neighbor lady who passed. The doctor who had checked her while she was in a coma couldn't hear her heartbeat and pronounced her dead. They were having her wake and they had to put her on ice due to the hot Texas summer. While someone was sitting with her, she sat up and said that she was freezing. This caused the person sitting with her to scream and the others went in and she was very much alive. My grandmama said the lady lived for a few more years. That is probably why a lot of people were scared to be buried alive. Thanks for sharing Sue!

Big cemetary, old graves, all their loved ones are gone. Alot of history with doctors going back to Queen Victoria, whether a Mausaleum or a field rock, we all end up dead.😮 you caught a quick picture of the fox, I saw it. It looked like a red fox and had a white tip tail. Thanx for a great tour❤😊

Embalming stopped the fear of being buried alive. Once the body is embalmed, there’s no coming back. But before embalming, there were stories & indeed the fear of being buried alive.
Thank you, Sue for revisiting this lovely place.💖

Wow!! What a FASCINATING cemetery!! I love the sound of the gulls in the background!!

I suppose the possibility of being buried alive in Victorian times was quite high?! After all, the medical field wasn't as sophisticated as it is now, and sometimes people were pronounced dead when they were actually in a derp sleep or coma!! Scary, or what?!

Thanks for this VERY INFORMATIVE video, Sue!! XXXX 💙💞💕👍❤🤗👏

Your video reveals that, whatever wealth, property and valuable articles that won't come with a person at his graveyard..what a life we live on earth?why we have wrath, jealousy and other worldly desires? Nothing else only bones and skulls are the final property that remain undisturbed..one has to learn lesson with your videos..thank you Sue..

When you said it reminded you of a little shopping center, I immediately thought about the ancient, unearthed shops in Pompeii!
