The Ford Ranger was Australia’s best selling vehicle outright in 2023 so it was only natural that Chasing Cars would acquire one for a long term test to see if it's worth the cash.

For our three-month test, we’ve gone with the very popular Wildtrak grade with the torquey 3.0L turbo-diesel V6 engine and full-time four-wheel-drive.

In today’s introductory video, journalist Zak Adkins takes us through our Ranger long termer, explains his first impressions and hints at what content is to come.

For now, the question remains, can our Ranger long termer justify its whopping circa-$88,000 driveaway price? Stay tuned and subscribe to find out.

Excellent Smithers! We are all looking forward to your future real time reviews on the V6 model pros and cons ! I'm also curious to hear if the engine runs 0w-20 motor oil 😂

Wow product team at Ford really messed up with payload of sub one tonne; clearly not paying attention to Australian tax laws.

Let us know how often the dpf regenerates and if it gives you any issues. Does it display the regen while it's happening?

Great car. the best ute hands down in this segment but Ford's reliability is just trash. Every day I see on facebook pages of someone having transmission issues, engine blown, oil leaks etc. I just bought a 24.5 XLT and am thinking of selling it in a couple of months and go a triton. At least with the triton you will be covered for 10 years

did he just say a pathetic slow diesel sh*tbox with more timing belts then an 80s toyota is just as good as a HSV maloo the quality of stupid comments from chasing cars presenters is way up there these days
that toyota prado review sounded like a paid AD for the big T not a single bad word was said the most funny part was all the kind words for the gutless 2.8L sh*theap of a motor that cost toyota millions in class action payouts because they couldn't even engineer a DPF properly
