I'm always amazed at how good HL2 graphics still look (and I really didn't play much half life at all until about 5 years after orange box)

They aren't so much the "photorealistic" type of "good graphics" as much as they're just really good at not falling into the uncanny valley while also not being hyper-stylized or cartoony to compensate.

At least when Valve did this parody 10 years ago, it was well & truely an advertisement to announce HL2 (and by extension Steam) for iOS/Apple computers while also fitting within the Half Life universe.
And now Epic has decided to make their own take on the parody but simply to rally their own player base against Apple, likely just so they can get more of Apple’s 30% cut.



Think we all know which of the two parodies was really made with the fans in mind.
