Trump's outlook is it would be better to trade with countries than fight with them. The British empire was large and sustainable because it was essentially a trading empire. War is very expensive. It's why the British always tried to avoided war. History has shown it's impossible to militarily and therfore financially to sustain an empire . The American industrial complex is so large so expensive its putting the country into debt to the tune of trillions of dollars....Trump is basically saying other countries should contribute more to the military alliance, expecially the wealthier industrial countries. The money the US spends on those countries could be spent domestically. ... Trump showing common sense because business people are pragmatic by nature. Other countries should contribute to their own budget.
