I agree Sundiver is the least good of the series but it is still a good read and it sets up the in book universe. I got the feeling it wasn't originally intended to be an ongoing series. The series is my favourite of Brin's books.

I don’t think the whole galaxy around Jijo was declared to lie fallow. After all, arn’t there only five galleries in Brin’s Uplift world?

I read the 1st and part of the 2nd book, do they explain where the 1st uplifted peoples come from?
