I loved her last album. I'm not bothered about popular opinion of her, and I'm not saying that because I'm a black metal 'noobie' hipster. I've been in the scene since 1994. I've realised over that time the underground metal scene consists of musicians from all kinds of backgrounds playing all kinds of sounds. Isn't not sticking to the rules what metal is about ?
She's clearly been interested in the folk music for a long time because she is pretty capable of playing different acoustic folk instruments.
Personally, I think it's nice to hear a female vocalist that sounds different from the usual Gothic female fronted metal bands .
So what if she was into pop? A lot of other Black metallers were and still are into other genres. KING from Gorgoroth is in a techno side project.

I think its a pleasant album, angelic is the word. Its a good break from listening to the new Hyborian, Huntsmen, and Intronaut.

This was the first album I listened to if hers and I love it. Is there another album that’s kind of like this one? I’m not sure what the genre exactly is but it’d amazing. But r there other songs like house carpenter, leaves of ygg...like that? Even if it’s from a different artist?

I wish she would’ve done this out of the gate. It feels much more like her identity in that it’s the most organic. It compliments her. I think she isolated herself “trying” to do black metal (not because she’s a woman) because it’s not good. Not to mention the production is terrible (May as well not even have a snare). The last record was not good, in my opinion. The singles were okay but everything else felt like filler and trying too much for that “tormented soul” atmosphere. The highlight was “Death of Days” which was a bonus track. “Mausoleum” is fantastic and a wonderful recording. She should stick to folk but at this point I find it hard to get into Myrkur. Personally, I like consistency and Myrkur BM and Myrkur folk are just too disconnected to me. Just my thoughts. Don’t signal the firing squad.
